The short version
Reenu Cherian is the founder and Managing Director of MicroTax, a proactive tax advisory and Virtual Family Office serving high-earning professionals, business owners, and families across 20+ U.S. cities. She started her career as a computer engineer, built her professional foundation at the intersection of technology and financial strategy, and now leads a national platform that has reframed what proactive tax planning looks like for clients earning $300K–$1M+.
She is a licensed financial professional, an IRS §7702 specialist, an international bestselling author, and the architect of the specialist network, CPAs, estate attorneys, wealth managers, insurance designers, that powers MicroTax's national reach.
The longer version
Reenu's path into financial planning was, in some ways, unusual. With a B.S. in Computer Engineering and a career foundation in technology, she came at the tax-and-wealth space with the analytical sensibility of an engineer rather than the sales-driven sensibility that dominates so much of the financial services industry.
The pattern she kept seeing, across friends, colleagues, and the broader Silicon Valley professional class, was the same one over and over: high incomes, high tax bills, and financial plans that nobody had actually designed.
Engineers earning $400K were paying $200K in taxes with no real strategy. Founders heading into liquidity events were missing QSBS qualification by margins as small as a calendar quarter. Physicians earning $500K were sitting on empty HSAs and unfunded SEP plans because no one in their financial life had the time or mandate to set them up.
The problem wasn't that the strategies didn't exist, every one of them is established, well-documented, IRS-compliant. The problem was that no one was running them together, on behalf of any single client, year-round.
MicroTax was built to solve that. The model is structured as a Virtual Family Office: one trusted advisory relationship coordinating tax, retirement, wealth, insurance, and estate planning through a curated specialist network.
The savings are large, typically $40K–$80K per year in year one for a senior tech professional, $50K–$80K for a business owner, $50K+ for a real estate investor, and they're large because they were always available, sitting in the tax code, waiting for someone to go and get them.
